"Diamond in the Rough" is written and drawn by Toledo Ohio artist, Jym Shipman.

 

This LGBTQ comic strip follows the life of a gay man Brandon Diamond, his family, and friends. The strip explores life through often funny and sometimes serious eyes. 

 

Jym Started publishing "Diamond in the Rough" in 2013. The strip contains many characters from his previous creations. Jym began creating comics as a child to pass the time and keep himself company while dealing with health issues that kept him often isolated.

Today Jym teaches art along with publishing weekly. You can also find him instructing water aerobics at the St. James Club and YMCA.
